Obituary of Claire Wagner

It is with profound sadness we bid farewell to our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Claire Marie Jeanne Wagner (nee Gosselin), who passed away peacefully at 88 on May 14, 2024 in Maple Ridge, BC.

Claire was born in Fife Lake, Saskatchewan to Octave and Aurore Gosselin on March 16, 1936. Growing up amidst the laughter and mischief of her 5 brothers and 5 sisters, Claire's childhood was adorned with countless tales of joy and camaraderie.  She worked in Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, SK, where she crossed paths with the love of her life, Henry Wagner. They married in 1957, their union blossomed into a beautiful family, welcoming Cheryl, Darrell, Russell and later Leanne, upon their relocation to Maple Ridge, BC, in 1966.

Claire exuded vitality and affection in every aspect of her life. Whether she was offering her time to the Catholic Women’s League at St. Patrick’s Church, or delighting family and friends with her culinary prowess and warm hospitality, her presence was a beacon of love and joy. She often shared her mantra, 'C’est la vie,' reminding us to embrace life's journey with grace and resilience.

Her green thumb flourished alongside her husband Henry's, as they nurtured a shared passion for gardening and camping, crafting memories that will forever bloom in our hearts. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Claire's love knew no bounds. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, basking in the warmth of her unwavering affection.

Claire leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, Henry Wagner, their children, Cheryl (Rob), Darrell, Russell, Leanne (Troy), grandchildren Michelle, Kaitlin, Joey and Derek, whom she cherished.  She is also survived by her sisters, Irene (John), Diane, Shirly (Mike), Lorraine (Frank) and Lillian (Herb), her brothers, Claude (Eva) and Lawrence (Paulette) and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Octave and Aurore. Her brothers Herv (Anne), Omer and Armand and her daughter-in-law, Caroline.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital who cared for our mom in her final months.

A funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 22561 - 121st Avenue, Maple Ridge, on Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at 10:00am.
