Dear Gayle and J.D. I am very sorry to hear of your loss and of Mel’s passing. He and I spent many hours together in our high school band days ( both trumpet players). If I recall he lived on Warwick Street on Capital Hill. We drifted apart after graduation, but I must admit that I think of him every time I drive through the area where we spent our junior high and high school years. He was a great guy with an awesome sense of humour.
Best wishe, Hans Oosterom

Hi Gayle,
We are saddened to hear of Mels sudden passing. Mel was always up for fun whether river rafting , hiking or having a beer. I loved his quiet humor.
Our best wishes for you and hopes that your sorrows will be replaced with new hopes and new beginnings!

Dear Gayle,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mels passing. It must be a big shock to you. I remember seeing him when he dropped in at the phone mart. He seemed like a VERY nice fellow. I hope you had great retirement years together. Stay strong and keep well.
Thinking of you,
Carell Felgnar

Dear Gayle. We are very saddened to learn of Mel’s passing. Kent’s dad just passed away on the 31st so this is a double whammy. We always enjoyed his guitar playing. I know you will miss him terribly. Take care and our love goes to you. Your sister Sherrie, Kent, neice Raquel, nephew Scott, and great neice Tenley

Although not well acquainted, I am nevertheless saddened to read about Melvin’s passing. Our paternal predecessors originally hailed from the same village area in western Ukraine, settled in the same Manitoba Interlake environs, and their commonalities included some intermarriage between at least one arm of each of the Dudych and Huzyk family trees. I can only recall meeting Melvin and Jack once in the late 1950’s, when they visited our Vancouver home with their father Steven.
My condolences to the family, and a prayer that his soul is at peace, if not hiking or climbing at great altitude. May you treasure many happy memories to help sustain you in your bereavement.

Hi Gayle.
I am so sorry for your loss. I liked Mel, he had his quirks i.e. everything had to be just right & even. I remember the story about placing all the bricks along your driveway & then Mel decided they weren’t straight & had to be reset. I hope in your retirements that you both still took turns picking where your vacation of that year would be. I’m a dog owner, bless Riley. Gayle, you take care & enjoy your great memories of the things you both enjoyed together. Pauline Haslett: Construction Clerk – Telus.
