Eros was the calm professional in the eye of a stormy time at CBC news in Vancouver in the 70’s.. I was the national reporter in BC when Eros was lineup editor. He always put out a solid product while always a gentleman of tghe first order.
My condolences to his family.

I grew up in Trail and Rossland so I had a kindred spirit when I worked at CBC News in the 1970s. Eros was a solid and thoughtful journalist, a centre of calm in a pretty chaotic place. Television news was so different at that time; we were inventing it as we went along. I am sure it was a great time for Eros to be on that journey of discovery with the rest of us.

Eros was a soft spoken gentleman. He was an old school newsman who got his journalism degree – that was a rarity in those days – at Gonzaga in Spokane. After all he was from up the road in Trail, if I remember right. When I worked at CBC Vancouver from 1977 to 1979 Eros was assignment editor. It was a time of turmoil in the newsroom as news and current affairs were in a shotgun marriage. Eros did his best to keep the stories going in a rapidly changing world. Sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with friends and family. Anton

Somehow I am not surprised that Eros died on Christmas Day. As a journalist, he knew there was a shortage of news this time of year, and so thoughtfully provided some himself. This is sad news for me; I worked alongside him for several years in the CBC Vancouver TV newsroom., he as lineup editor and me as writer. We got along well. He never seemed to have the requisite amount of cynicism for a journalist and I think that made him more open and thoughtful about many things. He taught many of us how to put together a newscast and cared deeply about accuracy, getting things straight. He did have a temper but we hardly ever saw it. My sympathies to all of you who cared about Eros. He was a good person.
