After a brief battle with a rare form of brain cancer Nick succumbed to complications of the disease. Born on lucky Friday, August 13, 1948, Nick was a precocious child. Always up for an adventure. He left home at an early age and tried his hand at many things. He worked as a Fuller Brush salesman, then welding flatbed trailers. He met a new friend and his interest in radio was born. He had a short stint as a radio personality. He DJ’d for a short time, then joined the navy at the age of 19. After leaving the Navy he started a commercial cleaning company with a friend. They sold that and he moved to Golden where he purchased a dry cleaners. He met his wife, Melody in 1973, and married in 1975. In 1977, experiencing hard times they moved to North Vancouver with their first daughter. He was able to land a job at CKO Radio with John Newberry. From there he moved on to CKVU, VU13, UTV, Canwest Global, Shaw media where he finally retired in 2014 to enjoy time with his wife and enjoy his passion of golf and travel. In November 2014 he joined Rogers Communications, where he stayed until he became ill. He was awarded the 2015 Audrey Award for outstanding commitment and contribution to the advertising industry. He loved golf, family, friends, travel, jokes and his career. Everyone whom he met was left feeling good and became a part of his life. His most recent boss and friend was quoted as saying “the best that this industry has ever seen”. He traveled to Greece, England, France, and Holland, and enjoyed many golf trips. He had golfed throughout BC, the US, Mexico, and not too long ago was proud to have attended the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. His heart was at Meadow Gardens Golf Course.
