Ken was one of the first guys I got to know when I transferred from Kamloops Sub-Division to the RCMP Security Service in Vancouver in 1978. I too remember his great sense of humour and infectious laugh. I remember fondly one weekend where Ken, Dave Lindsay and I took Ken’s camper up to Golden Ears Park for a ‘fishing trip’ although as I remember, not much fishing was done. We just sat around and talked and laughed and had a great time. Ken eventually moved back to GD work, and I eventually moved down to Australia where I have been with the Police here ever since. I never saw Ken again, but I will always remember him. He was that type of person. Rest in peace my old friend.

I was very sorry to read of Ken’s passing. It has to be 40 or even 50 years since I first met Ken and his sister Jan at a large Family Gathering. I was a first cousin to Jean (Ken’s mother) . Jean’s mother Jean Imrie was was my Dad’s sister.
John and and Jean McCrindle often spent time ( a week or 10 days in the summer in Gibsons, on the sunshine coast. My husband and I and our two children lived in Sechelt, and we would visit them or they would visit us.
I intended on being at Ken’s service but my plans did not work out. My sympathies to the whole family.

I was very sad to hear about Ken,s passing , and my sympathies to the entire family. I have fond memories of Ken on bike squad in Burnaby, and his infectious sense of humour and joking. Ken was very dedicated to his job and instilled a high and ethical work standard for those who worked with him. In more recent years I was able to reconnect with Ken, ride our Harley’s, and discuss life and the challenges that is thrown ones way. Ken always talked about his family and this is what made him most happy.
You will be missed Ken,
Pete Bailey

It was always a pleasure to meet and talk with Ken.
I didn’t know until after we both left the force that we both shared a passion for motorcycling.
I met Ken at the Haney Detachment in 1982 and would always share a story and a laugh with Ken over the years.
It saddens me to hear the news. To Judie and family our thoughts are with you at this hard time.

Ken could have done a better job with Marcel!!!!!!! I also worked with Ken back in the Haney days and my memory will always be his laughter and positive attitude. Always there to help all the Members. I met up with Ken many years later in a restaurant in Maple Ridge and we started where he left off. We didn’t miss a beat. Judy and family I wish you all the strength during this time. I’m happy that my career crossed path with Ken. Marko Shehovac

My memories of Ken are so many. He always had a big smile and a few good jokes. Countless times we worked together was spent, seemingly, just having fun. Then the times around the backyard pool or the mornings I dropped by the Sunday breakfast meets will always stay with me. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

It was with a saddened heart that I learned of Kens passing through Pete German. It is hard to accept the passing of one of the Troop 9 family. Our careers passed paths on several occasions. His infectious laugh and his never ending light hearted outlook on situations will always be remembered. He will be missed at our next troop reunion as he was always the life of the party . My sincere condolences to Judi and the family.
Sleep well my friend. Rob (Mini) Minhinnick

Judi and family. Hard to put into words the passing of our first “troop mate”. I will always remember Ken’s infectious laugh and great sense of humour. Ken will be remembered as being one of the “steady Eddy” guys in training. He was one guy that all could look up to for guidance and a mature attitude towards the training which was at times very foreign to most of us. Very saddened to hear of Ken’s battle with cancer when I look back to our troop reunion when he was his usual life of the party. You will always be remember my friend.

When we heard of Ken’s passing we felt as if we had lost a member of our own family. He had such a huge impact, both personally and professionally, on our early lives together. Mere words can’t explain how wonderful of a man he was. He is the one role model in the Force that we try to emulate and most aspire to be like, and we often think “what would Sgt. McCrindle do?” That is usually the right answer. The words wisdom, guidance and support you left us with will always be remembered …

When I heard of Ken losing his long and courageous battle against cancer, my first reaction was deep sadness and thoughts of Judy and his family. But then my memories focused on the privilege I had to know Ken as a troop mate, a friend and one of the most unselfish men I have ever met. When I close my eyes, I can hear his laughter, genuine and loud. He remains an inspiration for all who face challenges in their life. Ken, until all members of Troop 9 gather for the ultimate reunion, “Maintiens Le Droit”. Rick Cousins

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. I had the opportunity and privilege to work for Ken in Burnaby, and learned a great deal from him. Ken had a great sense of humour, and was one of the few people who could make watch briefings into a “can’t miss” event. As so many others have said, Ken was a father figure to many of us, and stood up for his watch and the RCMP in a manner you don’t see much anymore.
My sympathies to Ken’s family, he will be missed.

I’m so sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. I worked with him at Burnaby detachment as well. He was very personable, and the kind of person who’d remember your name and take the time to say hello. In a detachment the size of ours that is really something! We’d often chat about his property in Oliver as I was from the Okanagan and was familiar with the area where he had bought. It was clear that place brought him a lot of pleasure in his life. My condolences and best to his family.

Judie & Family: I was so sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. I have many fond memories of Ken when we worked together in Informatics. He was a raconteur extraordinaire and it was always entertaining to figure out what part of the story was true and which part was “Ken” embellishment. His ability to mimic certain senior officers was legendary. He touched a lot of people and of our lives are better for knowing him.
My thoughts are with you and your family during this time.

I haven’t seen Ken in many years but have always had fond memories of him. Diana and I offer our sincere condolences to all his family.

I had the pleasure to work for Ken while stationed in Burnaby Detachment. He was one of the kindest men I ever met and as junior members we looked upon him as a father figure. I will remember his laugh the most as it was truly from the heart. He was an excellent boss and someone that I aspire to be like. It was a great honor to know the man and I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

I was also one of the junior female members that had the pleasure of working for Ken in Burnaby. Ken was indeed a father figure and I learned a great deal from him. He had an incredible sense of humour and was very protective of his members. I remember Ken and his wife hosting our watch Christmas party, he opened his home to the team and treated us as his family. I am deeply saddened of this news, he will be missed!

It was devastating to hear the news. Ken was truly a great person and I am grateful I had the chance to have him as my supervisor. When he took over a watch in Burnaby he had a lot of female members who looked upon him as a “dad” rather than a boss because of how approachable and easy going he was.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Ken’s passing. I was privileged to have him as my Sergeant in Burnaby. Ken had a great sense of humour. He referred to me as the “King of Kensington” and often asked me to research the current market rate for parmesan cheese and prosciutto in North Burnaby. Ken was a great man and he will be truly missed. My condolences to the family.
