I was very sad to here that Rudy had passed away after his long battle. It is very difficult to put into words how you really feel when you loose someone that has made an impression in your life. I was just a young kid when I first met Rudy in the Campbell River store. I had just started with the company and was asked to help with the reline of the store with Rudy and his crew. Rudy was so kind to me and always had a smile on his face and a joke for every situation. That was such a memorable experience as a young person starting a new job and getting to meet a man like Rudy who made such a positive impression. I remember lunch time and Rudy always said “Lets get some soup”……….Well Rudy I hope your Golfing,Lawn Bowling and smiling down on us…….Condolence’s to the family Rudy was a great man……

Sorry I will not be able to attend your dad’s memorial but my thoughts and prayers will be with you Rudy was a colorful guy with personality to spare and one couldn’t be in his presence without coming away with a good laugh One story I will never forget is when he went on his first trip as a district manager to FT St John in the middle of winter and he showed with white oxfords. Can you imagine what the locals thought when this guy got off the plane He was a great man to work with and will be missed by all

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss. Loosing a loved one is never easy, but do remember, you have many special memories that you can treasure forever and will be with you forever. I met Rudy while I was working for Overwaitea in Maple Ridge. I still remember the annual “Boys Fishing Trips” that we used to go on with Rudy. Special they were! Rest in Peace, Rudy.

We were saddened to hear about Rudy’s death. We are so very sorry for your loss.
Both Larry and I worked for Rudy in the Parksville Overwaitea and we both admired and respected him. He was a great boss and was at our wedding in ’71 to give a toast — something about an older bull telling a younger bull what to do with the herd of cows!
When I think of Rudy, I see his smile, I can hear his laugh…..and I can see him pushing customers buggies up to the tills on his curling nights in particular — AFTER having announced, “Time folks. Time”.
He will be missed.

Rudy was on of the “All time Overwaitea Classics”. He loved to laugh and I’m sure a lot of people have a “Rudy” story, he was renowned for being thrifty???
One story I’d like to share:
I had just been transferred to Parksville as produce manager and took great pride in my work making sure we only displayed to best for our customers. I’d set up the produce rack and display tables and then go have coffee and a cake do-nut at the in-store coffee and do-nut counter. (some may remember). Rudy had a small piece of property at the edge of town where he kept a horse, Trigger I think was his name. Well after I finished set-up in the morning Rudy would,,,,,again cull the produce rack for questionable product and box up all the trim for his horse. Sometimes he’d need or want a little bit more. One morning, before I got started doing my job Rudy came up to me and said, “Eric,,, you have to be more careful of what you put in the produce trim boxes. I had to pull a blue twistem out of my horses butt yesterday!”.
Everyone who knew Rudy had only the best to say about him and he will be missed and thought of by all who knew him for a long time. I think he had a good life, rest well now Rudy.
Sorry that I’m unable to attend the service.
