I remember when it was snowing out, a few years back. I have a 4x4 so I knew we would be safe. Faye was hesitant when I phoned her that Sunday Morning and said I would be picking her up at 11 am sharp. Be ready with hat, scarf, and gloves. Of course she was drilling me of what we were going to do. I was taking her to the Casino for breakfast, and gamble a little.
But first I took her down a road in Maple Ridge that my parents used to call Lover's lane. She knew the road as her and her husband Merv they parked there too, when they first met. I knew the tree's hanging down over the road with snow on them would be breath taking to look at. She loved it. The snow was really coming down that morning. I wasn't going to fast but unknown to me, there was speed bumps on the road under all the snow. I was going probably 30 around there, when we hit those bumps it was like our buts left our seats. I hit everyone of them all the way down the road. I then turned around went back down it.
We laughed all the way to the casino where of course Faye won over 200.00 and I was happy just to be up 40. We had many breakfasts together, went to a few concerts, and wonderful dinners together too. We would share on who was paying and the other would pay next time. It always ended up in a debate of who paid last. We always got it right though. I lost a really awesome lifelong friend with her son Terry. I loved telling her stories about Terry and all our friends, we were all fortunate to have so many back then. I made sure that Faye knew how loved her son was by all his friends. Life seems a little more empty without her in it. I miss her dry sense of humor, her passion for all people in general.
You couldn't sit and have a coffee with her at Tim Horton's without her commenting on every one that walked through that door. I will always think about you, Smiling every time I do. It was awesome to have called you my friend.
I love you Faye. I miss you so much. Rest Easy.

I was very saddened by the news of Fays passing.
I worked along Fay at Smittys restaurant back in the 80s.
We grew as long time friends. We would chat at Tim Hortons regularly.
She was a great friend and will be dearly missed by many.

So sad to hear of Fay’s passing. I got to know Fay around 20 years ago when I became her personal trainer at a local gym. We had so much fun together and a bond was created that never let up. We kept in touch over the years, getting together for lunches (her favorite being Tim’s at 224th and Lougheed). She called me daughter and she was mom. I will miss her, as will so many that she touched with her fun spirit.
Love you,
Cathy (and Jon) Driver

Very sad to learn about Fay’s passing. I met Fay at the curling rink when I first moved to Maple Ridge. She was so much fun, always making everyone feel comfortable. Her laugh was infectious and she made everyone laugh. The winter I curled with her was the most enjoyable. Of course, she became a good friend. She will be so missed.

As a young RCMP in Maple Ridge, my husband met Faye at Smittys, and I later at curling.
She was alway such a bright light, always smiling, positive and had time for a chat.
She was always impeccably dressed and put together…. truly an inspiration.
I’m sorry that I won’t be able to come to her celebration.
Sincere condolences.
Rest In Peace, Faye.

I am so sorry to hear of Fay’s passing on. Fay used to do “outside sales” for myself and my late husband Ernie Day, at Maple Ridge Travel, many years ago. She was always a ray of sunshine when she breezed into the office, always with a smile and a quick joke. Last time I saw her, was just a few months ago in a local ladies wear shop, looking for something smart to wear. She was a good person, friend, and will be missed by her many friends. Happy travels, Fay!

Unfortunately Erna and I are out of town for the celebration of life and wanted to send this along. I first met Fay in the mid-80s at Smitty’s when I was a Cst. in the RCMP and she the hostess. She treated all of us like we were family…always a smile. Eventually I became the Chief of Police, then moved on to HQ, (and now on Pitt Meadows City Council) and throughout this long period, we remained friends and when we spoke, it always included the great times back at Smitty’s, the stories, … Wonderful lady, is a loss to our communities and will be missed, but as I write, I think back to those coffee breaks at Smitty’s!

I absolutely adored Fay , she was so full of light and laughter I met her through the Credit Union where I work and we became such good friends, she called me one of her adopted daughters, and I called her my adoptive grandma. I smile as I remember one of our lunch dates and I convinced Fay to take a selfie with me, it was so funny, it took many takes but we finally got a keeper!! I will miss her so much and my heart goes out to all of her family and many friends. She spoke very fondly of you Christopher and Kelly. Fay was one of a kind, a true gem and loved by so many people. Everyone knew Fay and she touched us all in a special way, a truly beautiful spirit. I know wherever she is, she is spreading her light and has everyone laughing!! Rest easy my friend xoxo

Dick and I met Fay and Merv, when we moved into Somerset Subdivision in 1988. We became friends, travelling to Reno on bus trips, Maple Ridge Legion functions, etc.
Fay and I enjoyed shopping together. Fay loved to turn on all the battery operated toys, and watch my reaction when they all went off!
We moved to Vancouver in 2004, and the visits between us were by phone in recent years.
Rest In Peace, Fay
You had many friends, and you will definitely be missed. Audrey and Dick Demos

Very sad to hear of Fay’s passing. She was probably the most upbeat person I have known. Shared many laughs and fun times while curling with Fay, many years ago, I might add.
Condolences to Christopher and Kelley.

It was with great saddness that we learned of Fay’s passing. We shared lots of curling games, laughs, and good times with Fay. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a very unique lady. Our condolences go out to Christopher, who was the pride and joy of his grandmother’s life, and to Kelly, who was a fantastic daughter-in-law to Fay. Unfortunately, we will not to be able to attend Fay’s celebration of life, but our thoughts will be with you. Sharon and Don Bennett.

My family and I met Fay at Smitty’s Restaurant. Our children were babies and she just loved them to bits. She would always take one of my little ones in her arms, coffee pot in the other and walk around and show her off to all the patrons, while still serving coffee. We have 3 children and they all loved ”’Grandma Fay”. My sympathies to her family and may your many memories of her bring you comfort in the days ahead.
Sincerely…Sharon Bull

I worked with Fay 30 years ago at Smittys Restaurant. She was such a vibrant person. She was always dressed to the hilt. We formed a great relationship and we all started calling her Mama Fay! She was like a mother to all of us girls. We had so many laughs together. I have ran into her many times at stores and events near her place. I will truly miss her. She was one special lady! Xoxoxo
