So sad to hear of Jeffs passing. It wasn’t long ago we bumped into each other and we prayed on the sidewalk in the rain. I believe he loved the Lord and I know the Lord loves Jeff.

To hear of this end to a child of God was very sad. Jeff always had a smile when he saw me and willing to shake my hand. He suffered deeply and worked hard to understand what Jesus wanted for him. He is at peace now. He will be missed and so misunderstood by so many… God Bless you Jeff!

You will always hold a spot in Maple Ridge. We will always have the spots that we look for you, although we know that you are gone. We miss you, your smiles, your soft spoken words, your cold callused hands that shared a warm thank you hand shake. I will never look at a tarp without thinking of you and how thankful you where to get a new one each fall. I smile to think that you would return my plastic containers weeks after I brought you a meal. I have family and friends that don’t do that. You acknowledged my girls and taught them that caring is not always about cash. Sometimes it is about stopping to listen, looking for someone when they have been away, stopping check in, sharing a meal, a hot coffee , finding sox that can be layered, how important Kleenex is, or just saying Hi. Your last day here on earth I know you felt the love of your community, and now in heaven you are well in the arms of the Lord! You are a blessing

“Those kids have heart! They really have heart!” Jeff said to me, sitting outside Maple Ridge Alliance Church in May of 2013. “Do you wanna see the letter they wrote me?” he continued. It was a letter that a Grade 3 student at Maple Ridge Christian School had given to him in which she said that she hoped that he would find a home and that she and her class were praying for him. As a volunteer teacher for this Grade 3 class, its regular teacher and I put on a play with the kids, “The Living Library: A Celebration of Books”. I asked Jeff if he would like to come to one of its performances, but first I cleared it with the principal of MRCS who said, “Of course you can invite Jeff. At our school we love and welcome everyone.” Jeff sat front row centre as if he were royalty and the kids gave a performance fit for a king. After the play he went to their class, spoke to them and answered any of their questions. “Stay in school!” he told them. “Get an education and be good!” The kids had an impact on him and he, on them. Bless you, dear kids and bless you, dear Jeff.

through Jeff’s struggle with alcohol, he has made many friends in Maple Ridge, including myself.
I pray the comfort and understanding he found at times, brings comfort to his family through this loss of a special man.
With how hard he was trying to keep his path with Jesus, I believe I will see Jeff again in Heaven.
Lots of love …. Christine

We were out of town when you were called home to heaven. Life can be hard, God decided you suffered enough. We’ll see you again one day!
I loved it how children, like my grandson, treated Jeff like anyone else and that many people reached out to make his life better and tried to help him in many ways, from providing provisions, to housing and finding treatment, a meal or offering a place to shower and shave, wash his clothes ….. ; Jeff always had a smile for everyone.
Mine and my family’s condolences to Jeff’s family!

Jeff was a special person. Every time we chatted outside the Dollar Store, he was always sweet and always grateful. I will miss him but I am sure he is in the arms of God right now.

On Thanksgiving while spending time with my family I learned about Jeff. It turns out that my siblings and a brother-in-law all knew him as well. So for a few moments we spoke of Jeff and all told of how we knew him and something that we knew about him. Is really was a special moment to remember a man that seemed so anonymous to many.

I had the privilege of chatting with Jeff and praying with him this past summer. He had a beautiful soul heavy with many burdens. It is comforting to know that His Heavenly Father has made him whole again. We trust that our Lord who is rich in mercy, grants eternal rest unto his soul and may perpetual Light shine upon him. We will miss you, Jeff.
