Obituary of Doreen Palmira Green

Please share a memory of Doreen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
October 19, 1933 – August 12, 2014 Beloved wife, mother, aunt, and Nonna, Doreen (nee Recchi) passed away peacefully at the age of 80. A woman of faith, caring and compassion, Doreen was born in Trail, BC and graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, in Victoria. She enjoyed caring for her patients and then her family, including her husband’s 40+ years of “Rocky, will you get me a cup of coffee?” She lived each day with glamour and joie de vivre, but it was her resiliency and sense of humour that got us all through 17 years of debilitating illness, during which her husband David fetched coffee for her. Smart, kind and an amazing cook, Doreen was the definition of family and she taught us all the meaning of love. She will always be the light in our lives and her presence and warmth will continue to be with us. Doreen is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, David Green, and her adoring daughters and their families: Pamela (Jeff, Erik & Sydney Thorsteinsson); Andrea (Pete, Sienna, Talia and Sophia Joyce); and Maria (Ercole, and Francesca Andreolli). She is also survived by sisters Angela Elfenson, twin Dorothy Jordan, brother Donny Recchi, cousin Angela White and their families. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Holyrood Manor, who cherished her and enjoyed her delightful laughter as much as we did. A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 22561 – 121st Avenue, Maple Ridge, BC., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in her name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
