To Laurie, Courtney and Micheal, my deepest sympathy to you on the tragically unexpected loss of your husband/father. I will always be grateful to Lennie (and George S.) for giving me, (a greenhorn), a chance to acquire a new set of work skills and gain the experience that took me to many places and opportunities, beyond the 1984 boondocks of Coal Harbour. That was a long time ago, but it goes to show you that memories are sturdier than life sometimes. Death took one from my family barely four months ago so I’m sorta there emotionally. Anyway……………Thank you for having this site up and taking messages when no other delivery method seemed feasible. So long from an ex-Coal Harbourite, ex-Ruskineer….sorrowfully yours, Linda R.

Went to high school with Lennie in Agassiz. Was friends with Brenda and Darlene at one point or another through our school years. Remember going to the Watkins house on Vimy for lunch many times. Although I never met his wife Laurie, children Michael and Courtney, my heart goes out to you all at this time. For all the lives Lennie touched, he will live on forever. Delores and Keith

I had the opportunity to grow up with Lennie, through high school, basketball, water skiing at Harrison, he was a great sportsman and great guy to know. Although our lives grew apart, I always enjoyed crossing paths at the fall fair. I know he will be truly missed and I am thankful I could call him friend.
My condolences to the family,

Dear Laurie, Michael, & Courtney,
It has been many years since I have seen you, but Steve always kept me updated on what you were all doing, and I often spoke to Lennie when I called Steve at work. He always wanted to have a chat and know what was happening with me. I so appreciated that he was so warm and friendly, and I know he meant the world to Steve. My prayers are with you all as you deal with his loss….it was far too soon. I know that you have many happy memories to hold close, and may those help you all smile again.
With sincere condolences,

Laurie, Michael, Coutney and all the family. My heart goes out to you all at this very sad time. I am going to miss my buddy big time! Lennie was always reaching out for the Ultimate Experience. Unfortunately he has paid the ultimate price. It’s not tragic to die doing what you love to do and Lennie loved to do so many things. He was the master at playing hard. Lennie lived the real life giving it 200% in everything he did. I feel very lucky to have had Lennie as a friend.

Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau Members, Directors and Staff offer their deepest condolences to the Watkins family. Everyone was so sad to hear the news of Lennie’s unexpected passing. Lennie’s contributions to the shake and shingle industry were many, and we all enjoyed the spirited discussions around the boardroom table. His passion for cedar shakes and shingles was readily apparent and Lennie was proud to be part of a multi-generation family business. He will be missed.
We urge you to draw strength from your family and friends who support and care for all of you. Our industry has lost one of its staunch supporters, and we mourn with you.
Sincerely,
CEDAR SHAKE AND SHINGLE BUREAU
