Obituary of Dale Simpson McEwan

Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
February 28, 1935 to November 24, 2018 Passed away peacefully at Ridge Meadows Hospital ICU, surrounded by family. His final hours were attended by the very compassionate Nurses and Dr. Auersperg, who was awesome. Dale was born in Prince Albert Saskatchewan and grew up on a Hudson’s Bay fur trading post where his father, Thomas McEwan, was a factor. After graduation Dale joined the RCAF where he became a pilot and then a flight instructor. It was while in the RCAF that he met Jacqueline (Jake) DuSanko whom he married in 1955. After leaving the service Dale entered the insurance industry eventually joining ICBC in 1973. Jake passed away in 2001 prior to Dale’s retirement. During retirement Dale enjoyed golf, travelling, curling, and especially his friends at the Legion although he was lonely until he met Lynda whom he married in 2013. Together they shared golf and travel as well as the Legion. Sadly Dale had a stroke and Lynda became his primary care giver where she did an exceptional job. Dad referred to Lynda as his Swiss Army wife. We will all miss his wit and his incredible sense of humour. Dale was predeceased by his wife Jake and his brothers Wally and Neil. He will be especially missed by Lynda, her three children (Martin, Tracy, and Jennifer), her 6 grandchildren, his son Tom (Joyce), daughter Kira Cooksley (Kelly), 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Maple Ridge Legion, 12101-224th Street, Maple Ridge, Saturday December 8, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM. In lieu of flowers we suggest donations to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Legion Poppy Fund.
