Goodbye our friend we had many good times, you were our neighbor and friend, we spent many times together at music concerts and on one occasion the races at Hastings racetrack. We were together going to exercise at the seniors centre generally sharing laughter together along with sadness sometimes but always we shared smiles as there was lots to smile about.
Shakespeare said the whole world is a stage and we are merely the players, so we had many good times together and sometimes you were the leading lady that a lot will remember and not forget.
Our condolences go to your family which you were very proud of and we were pleased to meet.
Till we meet again in another life, parting, is such sweet sorrow, it was good to know you.
Love you lots

Well my friend, the circle of life is complete. Leona was such an easy going person always happy, funny, selfless and humorous. She was a great listener as I rambled things to her. Miss that still. She loved a good debate but was never confrontational. I can still picture her walking along the street to exercise alone or as one of the ‘Three Musketeers. ‘ Leona was very fortunate to have a wonderful large loving family. She has made some great memories for you to cherish. I shall miss her and am happy I was able to visit her the past 13 months. Rest in peace, Leona. We will meet again one day.
Sincerely,
Barb Goodman

Leona was a very popular member of the Fitness classes at the Seniors’ Centre in Maple Ridge, and some of us always enjoyed coffee with her after classes. Her good humour and ability to not take herself too seriously were delightful, and she often amused us with her comments on things. When she became ill, another friend of hers and I visited her in the two hospitals she stayed at, and then at Willow Manor. We admired her patience and general good nature in the face of the sad situation she found herself in, and sympathized with her on the few occasions when she was in tears.
Her death is a great loss to her friends, and how much greater that loss must be to her family, with whom she was so close. I shall miss her.
I regret that I cannot attend the service as I will be travelling overseas then, but I will be thinking of her, and of her friends and family gathered together, on May 10.
