Obituary of Anne Grant Dalrymple

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
March 8, 1919 – November 12, 2013 Our mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in Maple Ridge, BC, on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the age of 94. Anne was the beloved wife of her late husband, Grant; devoted mother to her two sons. Bill and Bob (Alison), and grandmother to her treasured grandchildren Robert, Leslie, Billie, and Ryan, and her 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Margaret, brother Jack, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Anne is predeceased by her siblings Harold, Eddie and Mary. Anne came to Canada from Scotland in 1919 with her family and settled in Portage Le Prairie, Manitoba. There, she served in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Canadian Women’s Army Corp from 1937 to 1943. After meeting her husband they moved to Glenn Drive in Port Coquitlam where they raised their family. Anne was a founding member of the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation and spent countless hours fundraising, volunteering in the gift shop and assisting on the Rehabilitation Ward. She was an avid curler with the Port Moody Curling Club and a proud member of the Ex-service Women of the CWAC. She later moved to Maple Ridge for her retirement years. We will remember Anne for her love of life, music and dancing, sewing, her witty sense of humour and her generous spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her during her long life. Anne’s family would like to thank many wonderful caregivers on Ruskin Hill at Baillie House in Maple Ridge for their kindness, loving care and support. There will be no service at Anne’s request. Those wishing to do so may honour her memory with a donation to your favourite charity.
