Obituary of Richard Purdey

Richard H Purdey, age 65, succumbed to a heart attack in the late afternoon of Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Maple Ridge BC. He is survived by his two daughters, Erin (Brian), Morgan, his two brothers Don, Graham and was predeceased by his wife Brenda in 1993.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Richard joined the Maple Ridge Fire Department in 1968 and after a 30 year career, retired as Deputy Chief in 1998.
In his retirement, Richard spent countless hours at local coffee shops with friends and built his dream vacation home in Melaque, Mexico, where for many years he enjoyed the warm climate during our dreary winter months.
After a lifetime spent working in service of others, Richard continued to give even after his death as an organ donor and he would encourage all to do the same. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 11:00am at the Maple Ridge Alliance church at 20399 Dewdney Trunk Rd. The family will be there to greet relatives, friends, and those that wish to pay their respects.
Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society.
