Obituary of John Affleck

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
February 27, 1958 – December 17, 2012 John is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marlene, his children: Melissa, Jonathan, Michelle and Catherine, his father Boyd (predeceased by his mother Ruth), his one brother and six sisters, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. John was known to all as a gentle, wise man, with an infectious laugh, who loved God and his family. John’s life touched many around the world with ten years on the mission field in Pakistan and years supporting missionaries and nonprofit organizations. A role model, mentor and man after God…John always chose the high road, he went the distance, and he walked where others feared to tread, a defender of all things just, a voice for the voiceless, equality and truth. A courageous leader whose life has left his signature on so many lives around the world. John was an inconspicuous lover of God who loved and lived God everyday. John you finished strong, and your life helped turn things right side up in an upside down world. Thank you for everyone’s love and support through John’s illness. The family has been overwhelmed by the prayers and love from people all around the world. Celebration of Life to be held at Maple Ridge Baptist Church, 22155 Lougheed Highway, on Saturday, January 5 at 1:00pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to one of these two organizations that John cared deeply about: Inner Hope and The Connection Church Plant.
