Obituary of Joan Clements Walker

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are very sad to announce the passing of our much loved mother and grandmother, Joan Walker. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 1, 2020 at the age of 97 after suffering a stroke in Maple Ridge. Joan was born in Gloucester, England on August 13, 1922. She was a WW2 veteran and lived in England, all over Europe and Washington DC. After moving to Canada in 1963 with her husband and children, Joan worked at Lions Gate Hospital as a medical steno for many years. When she retired, she became a volunteer at Eagle Ridge Hospital. Also known as "Grams" and "The Dancing Queen", she was a feisty, sassy, funny but very sweet lady who will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever. She was much loved by her daughter Marie (Stan), granddaughters Tara (Jimi) and Lyndsay (Jenn), nephew Nicholas in England and cousin Jeffrey in Ontario. She has now joined her husband Ralph and her son Brett in heaven. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
