Obituary of Kyla White

Kyla White, beloved daughter, sister, friend and partner, sadly passed away suddenly on Thursday September 8th 2016 after a very short, undiagnosed battle with cancer. She left behind many broken-hearted people. Her parents, Chris White and Shirley White who loved her dearly. Her sister, Kristy White and brother-in-law Robert Crowe who loved, and shared an extra special bond with her. Her close friends Kalie Whitaker and Jillian Poole who grew up with her and loved her like a sister. And her soul mate, Curtis Herback who loved her more than anything and treated her like a queen. There are also so many people Kyla touched in the Safeway community who will miss her infectious laugh and warm smile at the deli counter there. She had a wonderful way of making everyone feel special and loved. Kyla was born at Vancouver General Hospital on September 2, 1976. She lived much of her youth at the family farm home in Pitt Meadows where she spent her days swimming, making mud pies and riding her treasured pony Ginger. She attended Pitt Meadows Elementary and then Pitt Meadows Secondary School where she met many life-long friends. She loved music, math and being the social butterfly that she was. At the young age of 16, she started her 24 year career with Safeway where she created countless friendships. Over the years she worked at numerous different locations, always brightening up every deli counter she visited with her smile, her personality and her ability to create beautiful things. She was a natural leader who mentored many young Safeway employees who thought of her more as a sister than a manager. Her legacy there will certainly last forever. Kyla lit up a room with her presence. She loved good wine, delicious food, and travelling to new places. Her loved ones were often spoiled by her amazing cooking abilities and special knack of pairing delicious flavours. She loved the beach and sliding her toes in the sand. She loved enjoying the best things of life. She held a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Over the years she had many that she treated like family. They were truly the most spoiled dogs on earth, especially her beloved Merlot who she adored greatly. And she loved her family. Mum, Papa White, Petite, Bert and Herbie were always her top priority. Her life with her soul mate was exactly how she wanted it and they made each other so incredibly happy. Kyla’s service was held at St. Patrick’s Church on September 15th 2016 at 10:00am A Go Fund Me page called has been created to support Curtis during this difficult time.
