Judy and Pam, so sorry to hear about your Dad’s sudden death. I always enjoyed working with him. Any banker who reads this might get a smile , I hope you both do. One of my fondest memories was a lesson I leaned after completing a report and asking Henry to sign it. I made an error when I did the report and someone else “checked ” it and missed the error. Of course he looked it over, found the mistake , and then in a somewhat aloud voice explained to me the very significant difference between people who are simply tickers and not real checkers. Something I have alway remembered .
Please know that Roger and I are thinking about you and and your families and offer our
sincere condolences.

To Mr. Swift”s family
I grew up in Yarmouth N.S when Mr. Swift was a bank manager there , he and his first wife Claudia were good friends of my parents despite my parents being older . My father Jacob David Cohen ( known as Jake ) and Henry were great friends and each learned a great deal from each other , they mentored each other and I remember that each held the other in highest esteem . The friendship extended beyond the men to the 2 couples Betty and Jake and Claudia and Henry
My father died suddenly in 1980 and Henry kept in touch with my mother following his death . Henry was an honest and kind man . For your family that is mourning him , I hope that following these most difficult days you will be comforted by the wonderful memories that you must all have

Hi Folks,
I knew Henry, but I know you didn’t know me. I was a young buck looking after Irving’s banking relationship with Irving Oil in the late 70’s, early 80’s. Big stuff back then. Henry was the first to explain to me what “assume” means, meaning to make an “ass” out of “u” and “me”. Stuck with me my whole life (63 now). He was a mentor. Sorry for your loss.
