Obituary of Henry Morrison Swift

Henry Morrison – 86, of Dartmouth, NS passed away unexpectedly in Maple Ridge, BC on September 1. Born in Springhill, NS, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Dewar) Swift. After 43 years of service in various management positions throughout the Atlantic region, Henry retired from the regional office of CIBC in Halifax, NS in 1988. Following his retirement he enjoyed his winter months at Pointe West Mobile Home Park in Largo, Florida. Throughout his life he was involved in a variety of organizations, including the Lions Club, Rotary Club of Canada, Boys and Girls Clubs and the Salvation Army, to name a few. He was a member of the Luxor Temple and the Masonic Lodge. Henry was a gifted musician who frequently shared his love of music by playing his saxophone for the congregation at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where he was a long time member. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Hartlen Point Golf Club. Henry was devoted to his family and proud of their accomplishments. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his children: daughters Pamela Frauley, Halifax, NS, and Judith Donaldson (Paul), Houston, TX, stepdaughter Robin Marecek, Edmonton, AB and stepson Kent Gallie (Susan Loadman), Maple Ridge, BC. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher Day (Jiashu Fang), Shanghai, China, Bryan Day, Houston, TX, Emily and Kate Marecek, Edmonton, AB, his sister in-law Muriel Swift, Stellarton, NS, brother in-law Derek Mills (Hazel), Sioux Lookout, ON, one niece and five nephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Claudia, brother John, sister and brother in-law Jean and Frank Tuck and son in-law Larry Frauley. Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 11 at 12:30 pm at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 216 School Street, Dartmouth, NS. Funeral to follow at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Dr. P.A. (Sandy) McDonald. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated. To place an online message of condolence please see below.
